Blue Enough
I was not planning to swim today. I even pulled my bike out of my storage closet but in so doing I had to step outside and witness first hand the delight that is today. It is a beautiful morning out. No overcast today. Just beautiful sunshine and I know the conditions in the water are perfect: warm water and no waves. Now that I actually live at the beach, I don’t have to guess or do some kind of weather translation to figure out how the air might look and feel at the beach because I AM at the beach! So I just could not NOT swim today even though I am super pressed for time. So let’s write this post fast. I can do this.
I’m out the door at 9:58 and realize that I had forgotten my goggles when I get to my car. Oof. This is already taking longer than it needs to. I drive the two minutes to the parking lot and head down to the water. It is gorgeous out. Once I can see the beach, I can see that brown tint to certain sections of the shallows. It’s been like this all week. Still, the water looks blue enough.
It does feel like there is just a little bit more sand on the ground today. The shallows don’t feel quite so cobbly. I start to swim. At first, the water feels a little cooler than I expected but it doesn’t take long for me to warm up and then actually appreciate the cool spots.
Despite the lack of cloud cover, it’s pretty humid out and that is messing with my camera housing. This happens sometimes in warmer humid conditions. I have to take my camera out of its housing if I don’t want foggy pictures, and I don’t want foggy pictures. Doing this while in the water and making sure not to drop my camera is a bit tricky but I manage.
It is so nice out here. That sun in the sky draws my attention like a tractor beam and it feeds me with something so incredible. I can feel my heart expanding. I just want to lean into this feeling. This feeling of warmth and fullness wants to take me somewhere. I am not exactly sure where but certainty is not a prerequisite. It tastes like home.
